I don’t consider myself an alcoholic, but I have been debating off and on whether or not I should decrease my consumption, switch between the different types of liquor or quit drinking entirely.
A few weeks ago, I received a copy of Anastasia Verg’s book Quit Drinking/Stay Sober – The Easy Way: A step by step guide through alcoholism recovery.
In less than 30 pages the author delivers important and easy to understand facts regarding alcoholism and alcohol abuse, steps on how to quit drinking, alcohol withdrawal symptoms and treatment plus the benefits of joining a support group. There is also information regarding cutting back, as oppose to quitting, and the reasons and/or benefits of doing so.
While the book is a simple read, at times it’s verbose with a few contextual errors, however the message remains understandable. If you think you may have a drinking problem, suffer from alcohol addiction or if you are thinking about cutting back on consumption you might benefit from reading.
Since reading Quit Drinking/Stay Sober – The Easy Way, I’ve decided to forgo alcohol for 30 days; my own personal challenge. I am curious to know if I drink out of addiction or habit.
Who knows…maybe they are one and the same.
At the time of publishing this post, I have achieved 7 days of sobriety. Although this may not seem like a lot, it’s a start.
