The Best Day Ever…Part 2

Spongebob best day everAs summer comes to an end, I find myself reflecting on the best day ever.  The more I ponder, I debate with myself.  I wonder if it’s possible to have two best days.  What could possibly trump the start of summer vacation, to even be considered “best day” worthy?   Then I remembered that Christmas is definitely awesome and as a kid Halloween was a pretty close second, so I guess there’s approximately three best days ever:  the last day of school, Christmas and Halloween; and of course the first day of school.

Hmm. That’s four.

What? Are you going to tell me that you didn’t like getting new school supplies and picking out the perfect outfit to wear the night before; or as a parent, knowing that someone else will be responsible for your child for about eight hours, and it’s their job, doesn’t make you leap for joy?

Then there’s your wedding day, the birth of your children, the day you start your dream job, the day you quit your dream job, finding your first house, buying your first car, moving in, moving out. There are so many best days how did I ever pick just one? Birthdays are always great, for me turning 16, 18 and 21 in particular; 30 wasn’t too shabby either.  Let’s not forget about the days you find extra cash in your pockets or better yet, when you find “free money” just lying around for the taking.

Personally, I don’t want to forget about the mornings when I wake up and the weather’s just perfect or rainy; or the days when I just simply wake up.  I absolutely love the days when I get a good deal on something I’ve been spying for months, or when I am able to enjoy a bit of quiet time with my spouse, or some much needed family time.  Family gatherings around the holidays, while they may seem like a chore, usually wind up being time well spent.

I’m in love with the days I wake up not having anything to do.  Lazy days are the best. All day movie marathons are awesome.  Leaving for vacation always puts a smile on my face and returning home after one puts an even bigger one.  I appreciate the first snow fall and watching it melt is the cat’s pajamas!

The best day ever should really be entitled the best days ever, because it’s simply too hard to choose just one.

Having room for dessert without stuffing myself and being able to complete household chores in record time both rank pretty high in my book.  The start of a new workout plan and diet is like chicken soup for my spirit. A random employee going over the top to make sure my experience is enjoyable is the icing on the cake.  Having a crazy idea and watching it come into fruition is gratifying.

The start of summer vacation is still the best day ever, but greatness cannot be limited.  This morning all of my family is safe, healthy and sound and I just finished another blog post so for me it’s the best day ever.

I’m Just Sayin…(Damn!)

      ~d,
I appreciate you reading and taking the time to comment. I have a friend I used to tease because she always said “You followin’ me” after everything she said and it used to really irritate me. My “I’m just sayin'” habit is probably equally irritating, but what can you do. I’m just sayin…(Damn!)
