5ive for Friday: 5 Most Popular Posts From August – Check’em Out!

I know you all have been wondering why I haven’t blogged about the top 5 posts over the last few months, actually since May.  Well, there are a few reasons. If you remember, I migrated from Blogger to WordPress in June.  I tweeted the top posts from May, but if you don’t follow me on Twitter, more than likely, you missed them.

I was able to have my blog up and running as scheduled by Sunday, July 7, but I was too involved in all things WordPress to check my Blogger metrics from June. Therefore the Top 5 Posts from June fell by the wayside.

After taking a month off, I was totally stoked to have my blog back. My primary focus was creating content and reconnecting with my readers. (Ha ha – very funny!)  Personally, I like to think at least one or two people actually look forward to reading my posts each week.

I was so focused on creating content that I forgot to add Google Analytics to my new dot com.  When I finally realized such a critical error had been made there wasn’t enough good data to determine the Top 5 Posts from July.

Not that it matters, but my favorite post from July is The Skin I’m In – A Natural Born Suspect. You can read it here.

So, without further ado, I present the posts that attracted the most page views in August.

    1. College Is a Complete Waste of Time – Not really, however, my 20 year old future artist is convinced that it is and he is working like a beast to prove just that!
    2. To Xfinity and Beyond – An Open Letter to Comcast – Right now I am ashamed to say Comcast wooed me back, but what could I do?  They had their best wingman in the field and I got sucked in.  It’s always the wingman!
    3. C is for Cancer – That’s Good Enough For Me – I attended a cancer benefit for a friend and I was expecting everyone to be sad and somber.  It was anything but that.  Read what I learned and how we can all help.
    4. How to Deprogram a Diva – This isn’t necessarily a “how to guide” but it is my attempt to deprogram the diva I bore.  It doesn’t hurt to try.
    5. Life After Resignation – I’ve been job free for over a year and it’s been great. Contrary to popular belief, job free doesn’t mean stress free.  Who knows…maybe I’ll come out of retirement like the pro athletes do – just to see if I still got it.

There you have it.  I hope it wasn’t too painful~  August’s top 5 most popular posts.  I hope you take the time to read through a few.  Who knows?  You may find a new favorite.

At any case, I’m back on schedule and the first Friday of every month; I’m Just Sayin’…(Damn!) features the five most popular posts.

Don’t worry, they never get old.

I’m Just Sayin’…(Damn!)

It was to send in a picture and right over here write about its significance for you.

I liked your post about college being a waste of time. I agree that college is not the be all, end all for every child. There are so many options for kids today to forge their own path and I'm so thankful for that.

I like the cancer post. I too have attended a cancer benefit and was surprised by how uplifting and inspiring it was.

What a good idea! I should do a top five post post…oddly enough, I think my busiest post is a recipe for Halloween Bloody Sangria, who knew? I should take a cue from that and do more Halloween recipes..but I suspect it's more the word 'sangria' that's doing it than what I wrote! 😉

I don't see color either, other than to enjoy differences in people. My family of adopted kids sports all the colors of the rainbow. Different isn't bad – sometimes it is delightful.

I have been thinking about moving my blog over, but then I always change my mind. I have never thought about having a top 5, I do think that I will make it a blog goal.

I've never heard of College Plus, but I will be researching to find out more. Yeah if your head's not in the right place college is a waste of time and money. I guess I'm happy my son decided it wasn't for him before he got to involved.

My Top 5 post from the month aren't necessarily from the month they were written. I look at my analytics to see if any of my old posts are generating any new pageviews, sometimes, they make it to the top 5. Thanks for reading and commenting. I'll be looking for your Top 5 Posts!

I really like your idea of a post about your top 5 posts for the month. Nice way to showcase all the great work you've done! I'm a new blogger and I started out on WordPress, but I also work full time and do most of the work on my blog on the weekends, and I've found that WordPress seems to be very slow at that time. I guess a lot of bloggers work on the weekends!

"The Skin I'm In — A Natural Born Suspect," resonated with me. Particularly, the George Zimmerman/Travon Martin comments. In cautioning my 13-year-old grandson about stereotyping and pep[;e "making negative assumptions" based on skin color, clothing, etc., his response was, "When I wear my hoodie, I'll be safe because the name of my school is on the back. And, everyone knows its a private school and mostly white." Suffice it to say, this required a longer conversation. Thank you for sharing

We never thought to do a Top 5 on our blog, but it's a nice idea. We used to do "Round Ups" of our favorite posts, but ahem, we stopped because it too k forever to load in all of the links and images. 😉

I like it when a blogger does a recap. I subscribe to so many blogs that I just cannot read every post. A recap post puts things together so I can scroll through and quickly find what I want to read. This may not help page views, but in reality I think it is what most of us have to do. I will be back to check the links out soon.
